You have most likely heard a lot of information regarding a “Heartbleed” vulnerability that is affecting the security of many computer servers. This problem is concentrated on one particular type of “certificate” know as Open SSL. Certificates are used to establish an encrypted session (https) between users and a secure website. We are pleased to let you know that Provident State Bank does not use Open SSL Certificates for our online banking website. While we do not believe that your devises have been affected by “Heartbleed” we do suggest that you consider changing your password as a precautionary measure to protect your personal information. As always, please feel free to contact the bank should you have any questions or concerns.
