Jeans For Charity
Our Provident State Bank employees pay $5 to wear jeans or sneakers each Friday, which goes toward a local charity that the employee chooses. For example, during February, our benefiting charity was the Delaware chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The caring LLS Mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma to improve patients' and families' quality of life. Not only is this organization the leading source of free blood cancer information and education, but LLS helps patients navigate their treatment and ensures they have access to quality, affordable, and coordinated care. Provident State Bank is proud to contribute to this resource for patients, survivors, families, and healthcare professionals. In January, Robyn Bell, PSB VP/ Human Resources Manager, presented our donation of $355 to Food for Learning, made possible by our very own Fred Spence. Food for Learning is a group of volunteers who are passionate about raising funds to end childhood hunger in Caroline County. Fred has much passion for this organization, and he was the one that made it so successful.
Dress For Success
Last year, Karen Holloman, PSB Executive Assistant/ Assistant Secretary, presented a donation of $400 to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This foundation serves individuals and families so that no one lacks the necessities in life. They do so by feeding the hungry, providing financial support, comforting people in distress, clothing those in need, and offering spiritual support and prayer requests. Last December, Sarah Hall, PSB Accounting Manager, presented the Salvation Army with a $265 donation to help make some families have a brighter holiday season. The Salvation Army was in greater need last Christmas as there were fewer Red Kettles due to COVID. This organization assists approximately 23 million Americans annually and meets human needs without discrimination. The friendly PSB family takes pride in showing our spirits and will gladly pay to wear jeans to support these life-changing beneficiaries for helping those in need. Pencils for a Purpose
Provident State Bank, your local bank, is proud to have supported Sweet Caroline's Benjamin Cahall's mission of 100 Thousand Pencils for a Purpose. PSB not only donated 1,400 pencils to Ben's cause, but also designated each of their branches as drop-off locations for community members to contribute to Ben's mission. No child should ever go without a pencil.
Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore
Provident State Bank, your local bank, is happy to say that we have paired with the Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore organization. This is a volunteer-driven, Kindergarten -12th grade program which aims to foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship skills, and financial literacy for children in school. This program reaches more than 7,000 students every single year across Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline counties. Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which provides 100% free teaching to the participating schools. PSB can’t wait to continue being a part of this fantastic cause to help local children.
